Welcome!
My name is Karla Hailer and I love teaching in upper elementary and I’m a perpetual learner.
Over the years I have been many things: a mechanical artist, worked in high tech, a journalist, the “library mom,” ran the kids’ department at a local Borders Books and Music, ran a local Little League, coached a FIRST Robotics Lego League team, tutored math students and whole host of things before entering teaching full time.
Mostly, I’m a mom. I raised three boys, with varying learning disabilities and issues, and, after years of students with similar issues, I developed my own tools and techniques to help all of them prepare for middle school and beyond.
Now I am adding writing middle-grade fiction to the list of things I’ve done because I believe we have to keep learning to stay young.
